In December of 2006, the founder of this company, Kent Grabau, was asked by a neighbor, to film their son as he practiced at an arena in Bozeman, MT for an upcoming Winter Series rodeo. Kent also filmed the entire Winter Series rodeo and sold custom produced DVD's to several participants. This was the beginning of Three Pines Productions.

More opportunities to film equestrian and other types of rodeo events presented themselves and Kent, with the help of his wife Mary, took on these new challenges with the promise of providing the highest quality of filming techniques and DVD production possible.

Kent's background in electronics, sound, lighting, film and business experience, along with Mary's customer service background, people skills and bookkeeping skills have made it possible for them to build a company founded on quality products and service, and backed by integrity. In just one year, Three Pines Productions, LLC has come to be known as the premier equestrian and rodeo film company in Montana. And it just keeps growing.

Through 2007, the company traveled to several western and mid-western states filming events and clinics. Many barrel races, team-roping events, cutting events, rodeos, etc. have experienced the Three Pines touch and these events will never be the same. As the founder of the UBRC barrel races says, "they just class up any event they're at!" Providing the highest quality filming ever seen in this venue; high quality, custom produced DVD's; and instant replay at the events creates an environment for the spectators and participants alike that has never been experienced in this state, before.

As you may have guessed, Three Pines Productions, LLC is all about quality and providing what the customer wants. They provide that and more by using broadcast quality, high-definition cameras and custom built computers (which they build themselves) along with the highest quality support equipment they can get. Said Kent, "We're not trying to take over the equestrian film market in Montana, we're creating it! You don't do that by using home cameras and producing home quality products. You do that by providing service and products the customer asks for and expects to get from a professional company." Kent went on to say that they have never gone in search of business but that the event coordinators and hosts have always come to them.

This summer, 2008, the company has several events which are double booked with other events. Instead of saying no to these events they have added additional film crews and equipment to cover everyone's requests for their service. Kent said that when a customer requests something, the answer is never "no". The answer, instead, is "we'll do what we can to make that happen" and then find a way to do it. That's not an easy task when you're as quality conscience as Kent and his staff. Each camera operator must be able to produce, consistantly, the quality of footage as Kent or they don't make it with the company. Their newest camera operator came all the way from San Diego to work with this company.

With events such as, "The 33rd Annual Northern Rodeo Association Finals",  "Dusty Gliko Bullriding Championship", "Three Can Tango", "The Halloween Bash", Barrel Daze, UBRC Barrel Racing Championship, and others too numerous to list here, the company keeps expanding it's services and it's list of very happy clients.  Three Pines Productions is also scheduled to film 100% of the Montana Cutting Horse Association events in 2009, and have been invited to film events in several states and Canada.

"This is just the tip of the iceberg for Three Pines", said Kent. We will continue to grow year after year and to provide more and more services to the people of Montana. Soon, we will be broadcasting these events live so everyone can be a part of them."

This is one of the fastest growing, small businesses in Montana, and bears watching. Look for them at the next event you attend.
